Basic First Aid and AED Awareness
1. Target Group
This four hours program is designed for individuals who are responsible to administer First Aid and use of AED in their working area where AEDs are
available.
2. Delegate Pre-requisites

3. Physical and Stressful Demands
There are no physical and stressful demands in this course, however the delegates will be required to undergo medical screening by completing
appropriate medical screening form provided by QISC in order to ensure that the delegates are fit and well to participate fully.
4. Aims and Objectives
The aims of this course is to provide awareness to delegates which enable them to gain confidence to administer First Aid and use of an AED during
an emergency situation.
5. Learning Outcomes / Assessment Criteria
On completion of the training in the use of an AED the participant should be
able to demonstrate the sequence of actions and skills required to use an AED:
Understand the definition of First Aid and priorities of the First Aiders
Assess an emergency situation and procedures to follow in case an
emergency occurred.
Manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally and be able
to conduct secondary survey.
Manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally and be
able to perform high-quality CPR.
Send someone for the AED and to call for an ambulance
Start CPR unless AED is immediately available
6. Delegate Performance Assessment / Certification / Validity
Delegate Performance Assessment: This is an awareness course but includes
practical assessment and oral questioning.
Certification: QISC Approved Certification with 3 years validity.
