Scope (Target Group)
The course is designed for MEWPs operators. This course instructs an operator to prepare and safely operate various types of MEWPs

Aims and Objectives
At the end of the course, the delegate should be able to demonstrate an understanding of –
 Different types of Mobile Elevated working platform (MEWP) its categories
 Structural parts of the MEWPs
 Familiarization and Pre Use Inspection
 Platform Movement and Travel
 Ground Conditions
 Hazard Awareness
 Operation of MEWPS

The syllabus covers:
 Induction and introduction
 Legislation and Codes of Practice
 General Responsibilities of an employer and employee

 Push Around Vertical (PAV)

Structural Parts of MEWPs
 Structural Parts of Mobile Vertical MEWPs Chassis, wheels, Scissor pack, platform.
 Structural Parts of Mobile Vertical MEWPs Chassis, wheels, Turntable, Lower Boom, Upper Boom, Telescopic Boom Jib Boom, Platform
 Stabilizing and leveling

Familiarization and Pre Use Inspection
 Difference between training and familiarization
 Pre – Use inspection
Documents for thorough Examination, Manufactures Manual, ignition, Structural and Stabilizing features, Engine, Hydraulics, Wiring, Machine Parts,

Platform Movements and Travel at Height
 Being aware of people, travel speed when elevated, drive speed, ground conditions
 Travelling in Tracked machines

Ground Conditions
Side Gradients, Soft Ground, Paved Ground

Hazard Awareness
 Working envelope, Electrical hazards, Fall prevention, usage of Harness

Operation
 Rescue plan, weather, wind, observation, anemometer, smooth operation, SWL, boom flex, overhead obstructions, parking securing and refueling

Method of Assessment of Performance
Delegates will be assessed against a series of learning outcomes using direct observation and oral and/or written questions as appropriate. Debriefs must
be conducted with participating delegates on the completion of practical exercises.

Health
All personnel who participate in practical activities specified in this standard must be physically and mentally capable of participating fully. All students will
be asked to complete a Qatar International Safety Centre standard medical questionnaire prior to course commencement.
