IVV & DIAmond Emergency Response Vehicle Driver
1.Target Group
The Course is designed for employees who drive a heavy motor vehicle in the Middle East and for companies who are aiming to reduce running costs for
their fleet of vehicles.
2.Delegate Pre-requisites
Hold a valid Qatari driver’s license relevant to the class of vehicle being used during driving duties.
3.Physical and Stressful Demands
Training and/or assessment activities contained within this course may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who
participate in such actives must be physically and mentally capable of participating fully.
Therefore, to ensure that prior to participating in practical exercises, the delegates will be required to undergo medical screening by completing appropriate
medical screening from provided by QISC.
4.Aims and Objectives
This Course is aimed at providing information on ways at improving participant’s defensive driving skills and awareness of hazards associated with road
driving and Complete Emergency Response Drive competently and safely.
5.Learning Outcomes / Assessment Criteria By the end of this course, the driver should be able to:
Perform all pre-driving checks.
Drive the vehicle safely, lawfully and correctly whilst interacting with other traffic.
Keep a safe space on all sides of the vehicle in all traffic conditions.
Observe, recognize, and correctly respond to all potential and actual hazards, and use the most effective hazard approach procedure.
Communicate correctly and appropriately with other road users drive the vehicle at a speed commensurate with the condition of the load, road traffic
and environment conditions.
Demonstrate an understanding and correct use of all vehicle primary and secondary controls
Understand the different handling characteristics and capabilities of the vehicle being driven.
Give an appropriate commentary whilst driving.
Maneuver safely and efficiently in a restricted space.
Plan and Perform overtaking safely
Roundabouts – rules, signaling, lane discipline conflicts
Understand the specific skills and responsibilities for transporting goods and materials
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
Emergency vehicle driving rules, role, responsibility (Communications equipment, Lights as well as company policies and procedures)
6.Delegate Performance Assessment / Certification / Validity
Delegate performance Assessment:
Theory: There will be an interactive class discussion and verbal questioning throughout the session. There will be a written examination in the form of a
multiple choice paper.
Practical: The practical driving session will be assessed with respect to measurement of the objectives and their subsets. The driver may be asked simple
questions periodically in relation to the driving environment. Briefings will be given relating to specific task to be achieved whilst driving. Each driver must be
able to successfully perform each of these task in order to be recorded as competent. Assessment feedback will be provided at the end of the session.
Certification: IVV & DIAmond approved certification with 2-year validity

Theory 1:4 (Maximum)
Practical 1:1 (2 hours per day x 5 days)
