Boom Lift Safe Operator Competence Development And Assessment

1. Target Group
Operators of Boom Lift cranes (telescopic and articulated boom) performing load handling operations on Qatar Airways site.

2. Delegate Pre-requisites
Delegate must hold an appropriate Qatari Driving license.

3. Physical and Stressful Demands
All delegates will be asked to complete a Qatar International Safety Centre standard medical questionnaire prior to course commencement.

4. Aims and Objectives
Develop theoretical and practical skills and knowledge required to perform safe handling operations with Boom Lift cranes and provide basis for
assessment.

5. Learning Outcomes / Assessment Criteria
To successfully complete this course, delegates must be able to:
1. Recognise Roles and responsibilities of QA Site.
2. Perform all pre-operation and post use –checks.
3. Observe, recognise, and correctly respond to all potential and actual
hazards.
4. Communicate correctly and appropriately with other operatives.
5. Demonstrate correct boom extension load movement procedure.
6. Interpret the rated capacity chart.
7. Move the loads safely and efficiently in a confined area.
8. Transport all loads with maximum safety.
9. Set up outriggers and stabilizers.
10.Recognise Different types of slings and sling identification markings
11.Demonstrate Principles of sling angles and tensions
12.Attach slings to ensure a safe and even weight distribution
13.Protect rigging equipment from damage
14.Demonstrate the safe storage procedure.

6. Delegate Performance Assessment / Certification / Validity
Assessment: Delegates will be assessed by continuous observation of their practical demonstration during their tenure as Boom Lift crane Operator.
Certification: QISC Certification valid for 2 years.

Minimum ratio 1:3

2 days (Half-day classroom theory, 1-day practice, Half day assessment)
