Hand and Portable Power Tool Awareness
1. Target Group
This course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge on the risk associated while using hand and portable power tools; hazard
identification; basic safety procedure for avoiding accidents and preventing injuries.

3. Physical and Stressful Demands
There are no physical and stressful demands in this course, however the delegates will be required to undergo medical screening by completing appropriate
medical screening form provided by QISC in order to ensure that the delegates are fit and well to participate fully.
4. Aims and Objectives
The aims and objectives of this course is to provide knowledge and practical experience in the selection, inspection and safe use of various types of power
tools to prevent accidents in the workplace.
5. Learning Outcomes / Assessment Criteria
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Define hand and portable power tools.
Familiarize with labelling, instruction and their storage.
Introduce the hazards and main causes of injuries.
Highlight general guidelines for hand and portable power tools safety
Recognize correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for using hand and portable power tools.
Familiarize the safe operations of various hand and portable power tools.
Describe ergonomics in relation to tool use.
6. Delegate Performance Assessment / Certification / Validity
Delegate Performance Assessment: This is an awareness course and includes observational written assessment.
Certification: QISC Approved Certification with Three years validity
