QE Basic Fire Fighting Training

*1. Target Group
This course is designed for all QE Staff and contractors to provide information on fire safety preventive and precautionary measures.

*3. Physical and Stressful Demands
All personnel who participate in practical activities specified in this standard must be physically and mentally capable of participating fully. All students will
be asked to complete a Qatar International Safety Centre standard medical questionnaire prior to course commencement.

*4. Aims and Objectives
To provide information on:
(a) The process and theory of combustion
(b) Methods of fire spread
(c) Methods of fire detection
(d) Fire hazards in the workplace
(e) Types of Extinguishers
(f) Use of Extinguishers

*5. Learning Outcomes / Assessment Criteria
On complete of course delegate must be able to:
(i) Explain the meaning of Flash point, Fire point and Auto-ignition temperature
(ii) List the different types of fire detector used in QE
(iii) State the classes of Fire
(iv) State and describe the various ways in which fire spreads
(v) State the common hazards in the workplace known to lead to an outbreak of fire
(vi) State the actions to be taken on discovering a fire
(vii) Select the appropriate portable extinguisher for use on a small fire
(viii) Extinguish a small fire

*6. Delegate Performance Assessment / Certification / Validity
The course is a competence based course and includes observational written assessment.
