QE Emergency Response Vehicle Driver
1.Target Group
This Course has been designed for emergency response staff with the responsibility to driver emergency response vehicle including Fire, Medical &
Security. Emergency Response Vehicle Driver training is primarily focused on the competencies of a driver to use his or her discretion as to when and where
to exceed the speed limit on a road or for a vehicle, wisely and the skill to do so as safely as is possible given need and circumstances.
2.Delegate Pre-requisites
HSE Induction, Valid Qatari’s License for category of vehicle being driven.
3.Physical and Stressful Demands
Training and/or assessment activities contained within this course may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All personnel who
participate in such actives must be physically and mentally capable of participating fully. Therefore, to ensure that prior to participating in practical exercises,
the delegates will be required to undergo medical screening by completing appropriate medical screening from provided by QISC.
4.Aims and Objectives
This Course is aimed at providing information on ways at improving participant’s defensive driving skills and awareness of hazards associated with road
driving and complete the Emergency Response Drive competently and safely:
Demonstrate basic Driving Skills
Prepare and drive vehicles at high speed
Drive vehicles at high speed on motorways and multi-lane carriageways
Undertake an emergency response using a vehicle
Avoid skids when using an emergency vehicle
5.Learning Outcomes / Assessment Criteria
By the end of this course, the driver should be able to:
Drive the vehicle safely under normal conditions
Drive the vehicle safely under emergency response conditions
Drive the vehicle at a speed commensurate with condition of load and road and traffic conditions
Plan most appropriate route
Drive in a calm and controlled manner
Maneuver vehicle in restricted space
Warning other road users, where appropriate, through effective display and use of audible and visual emergency warning devise.
Position vehicle for advantage in respect to position and movement of other road user.
Show awareness and assessing the likely unplanned actions of road user
Show awareness and assessing the impact of the use of emergency audible and visual warning devices on others
Emergency vehicle driving rules, role, responsibility (Communications equipment, Lights as well as company policies and procedures
6.Delegate Performance Assessment / Certification / Validity
Delegate performance Assessment:
Theory: There will be an interactive class discussion and verbal questioning throughout the session. There will be a written examination in the form of a
multiple choice paper.
Practical: The practical driving session will be assessed with respect to measurement of the objectives and their subsets. The driver may be asked simple
questions periodically in relation to the driving environment. Briefings will be given relating to specific task to be achieved whilst driving. Each driver must
be able to successfully perform each of these task in order to be recorded as competent. Assessment feedback will be provided at the end of the session.
Certification: QE Approved Certification with 3 years Validity
