V.I.P. / Professional Driver
Scope (Target Audience)
Anyone who’s duties would include driving V.I.P’s or Senior staff members, these drivers would ideally (but not necessarily) have first successfully completed
a Defensive Driving course.
Objective
At the end of the course the driver should be able to –
Perform all pre-driving checks
Understanding the importance of presenting the vehicle in a pristine condition
Show an awareness of personal dress code (relative to client)
To demonstrate a high degree of driving etiquette
To plan safe routes to avoid high risk areas (journey management)
Drive the vehicle safely, lawfully, and correctly whilst interacting with other traffic.
Keep a safe space on all sides of the vehicle in all traffic conditions
Observe, recognise, and correctly respond to all potential and actual hazards, and use the most effective hazard approach procedure
Demonstrate a defensive road position at all times (defensive, but not submissive)
Communicate correctly and appropriately with other road users
Drive the vehicle at a speed commensurate with the condition of the load, road, traffic, and environment conditions
Give an appropriate commentary whilst driving
Manoeuvre safely and efficiently in a restricted space
Show knowledge of how to respond to emergency situations
Assessment –Theory
There will be interactive class discussion and verbal questioning throughout each lesson
There will be two written examinations in the form of a multiple choice paper, a pre-training test and a post-training test, on which there will be not less
than four possible answers to each question. The questions and answers will be written using simple English language to be easily understood by persons
who do not use English as a first language
Assessment – Practical
The practical driving session will be assessed with respect to measurement of the objectives and their subsets. The driver may be asked simple questions
periodically in relation to the driving environment. Briefings will be given relating to specific tasks to be achieved whilst driving. Each driver must be able to
successfully perform each of these tasks in order to be recorded as competent.
The drive must be smooth and progressive, the interaction with the ‘client’ (instructor) must be professional at all times, being polite and diplomatic, avoid
giving opinions
Certification (Approvals)
This course is Approved and Certified by the IVV, International Association for Driver Education.
Certificate will be issued on successful completion of training.

2 Years.
Prerequisite
Hold a valid Qatari or GCC driving license for a light vehicle
Duration
2 Days comprising –
1/2 day theory, and
1 1/2 day practical

Theory – 3:1 Maximum
Practical – 3:1 Maximum
Venue
Held at Qatar International Safety Centre Premises, Doha, Qatar or client premises.
Items to bring
Valid Qatari or GCC driving license.
Roadworthy Light Vehicle
Suitably dressed to drive a vehicle
The Client shall provide the motor vehicle to be used for the practical sessions of driver training.
The motor vehicle shall be registered and insured in compliance with Qatar road traffic law. The vehicle shall be in a good roadworthy condition, the
air-conditioning shall be working correctly, with all other parts fully functioning, have a 3-point seatbelt for each person, and at the commencement of each
practical training day shall arrive at the training location with a full tank of fuel.
