Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Awareness

1.Target Group
This three hours program is designed for individuals who are responsible to administer First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) in their working area

appropriate medical screening form provided by QISC in order to ensure that the delegates are fit and well to participate fully.

4.Aims and Objectives
The aim of the AED awareness course is to enable each participant to gain confidence in the use of an AED during an emergency situation.

5.Learning Outcomes / Assessment Criteria
On completion of the training in the use of an AED the participant should be
able to demonstrate the sequence of actions and skills required to use an AED:
 Check the risk to the victim, any bystander and yourself
 Assess the victim to be unresponsive and not breathing normally
 Send someone for the AED and to call for an ambulance
 Start CPR unless AED is immediately available
 Switch on the AED and attach the pads
