Highfield International Award in Accident and Incident Investigation Level 3

1.Target Group
This course is intended for learners already working in the capacity of supervisor, manager or team leader, or those who are preparing to start work at
this level.

2.Delegate Pre-requisites
It is strongly recommended that learners already possess a level 3 health and safety qualification.

3.Physical and Stressful Demands
There are no physical and stressful demands in this course, however the delegates will be required to undergo medical screening by completing appropriate
medical screening form provided by QISC in order to ensure that the delegates are fit and well to participate fully.

4.Aims and Objectives
The aim of the course is to understand the principles of accident and incident investigation and procedure of accident and incident investigation.

5.Learning Outcomes / Assessment Criteria
By the end of the course delegate should be able to:
 Define the key terminology used in accident and incident investigation
 Outline the purpose of accident and incident investigation
 Explain the contributory factors that lead to an accident or incident
 Explain the procedures for investigating workplace accidents
 Outline procedures to deal with external relations
 Explain successful interview techniques used for the investigation
 Explain the importance of post investigation measures that aim to prevent a reoccurrence
 Identify the reasons why investigations might fail

6.Delegate Performance Assessment / Certification / Validity
Delegate Performance Assessment: This qualification is assessed by a multiple choice examination containing 45 questions. The exam must be
completed in 90 minutes. Successful learners will have to demonstrate knowledge across the unit content and correctly answer 27 questions or more to
achieve a pass, 32 questions to achieve a merit and 36 questions to achieve a distinction.
Certification: Highfield issued certification with no specific validity.
(Certification issuance will take minimum of 30 working days after the successful completion of course).
