Fire Risk Assessment Course
Overview
This course is designed to ensure employers assess the risks in their workplace and put in place appropriate control measures, based on Qatar legislation
(Qatari Law No. (9) of 2012 Amending some provisions of Law No. (13) of 1997 on Civil Defense) and international legislation (e.g.: The Regulatory Reform
(Fire Safety) Order, The Health & Safety At Work Act, etc.) It also covers Codes such as British Standards (BS and BS-EN) and National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA).
These Codes must be followed in order to comply with legislation. The course concentrates on the five important steps to completing a fire risk assessment:
– Identifying the fire hazards.
– Identifying the people at risk.
– Evaluating the risks, and whether they can be removed or reduced
– Recording the findings and creating an Action Plan
– Reviewing and updating the fire risk assessment.
Objectives
At the end of this course, the delegates will be able to
– Carry out a Fire Risk Assessment in the work place, ensuring as far as reasonably
– practicable that all risks and existing control measures have been identified
– Refer to legislation, recommendations and Codes
– Identify and recommend further measures to eliminate or control fire risks
– Create an Action Plan
– Create a safer working environment for employees and others
Course Content
The syllabus focuses on:
– Outline of current legislation and guidance
– Principles of fire safety within the workplace
– Identification of fire hazards:
– Identification of who may be harmed and how
– Risk evaluation
– Identifying control measures
– Risk management and monitoring
– Recording findings and reviewing
This programme has been designed to produce competent risk assessors who are able to carry out “suitable and sufficient” assessments across a broad
range of workplace activities.
Target Audience
This course will benefit all personnel who are carrying out risk assessments or participating in a corporate risk management programme.
Course Duration:
This is a 2 day course for a minimum of 4 students, maximum of 12.
Certification & Approvals
QISC Approved Certificate
The QISC trainer has NEBOSH and IOSH qualifications.
QISC is approved by Qatar Civil Defense to conduct the Fire Safety content of this training.
