Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Further Training

Aim & Objective (Overview)
The aim and objectives of the HERTL Further Training Programme is to refresh elements of the HERTL training that cannot be completed in the workplace
and updating HERTLs on key changes to helicopter operations, systems, relevant legislation and regulation over the previous 2 years (approx.)

Target Audience
This training is designed for currently-appointed certified HERTLs that are required to revalidate their HERTL certification by refreshing and updating their
knowledge and skills in aspects of their role that they cannot practice in the workplace.

Prerequisites
The prerequisites for this training programme are:
a) A valid Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Training Certificate
OR
b) A valid Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Certificate Further Training Certificate
OR
c) A valid OPITO Helideck Operations Initial Training Certificate and a valid OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Member Certificate and a valid
Offshore Emergency Response Team Leader Certificate.

Course Content
Module 1 HERTL Further Training
 Element 1.1 HERTL Further theory training
 Element 1.2 HERTL Further practical training in emergency response
(a) Helicopter incident resulting in crash/overturned aircraft involving fire/no fire
(b) Engine fire
(c) Fuel Spill during refueling operations resulting in fire/no fire
(d) Emergency/precautionary landing

(e) Responding to Class A fires caused by helicopter incident
(f) Responding to *Class B fires (flammable liquid spill and leaking fuel fires) caused by helicopter Incident
(g) Rescue from an overturned aircraft (h) Internal fire fighting
(i) Responding to a helicopter incident off the helideck
(j) Loss of fire main/pressure

Duration
The optimum ‘contact time’ for Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader Further Training programme is 12.5 hours (1 ½ days).

Method of Assessment of Performance
Delegates will be assessed against a series of learning outcomes using direct observation and oral and/or written questions as appropriate.

Certification
QISC approved certification valid for 2 years.

Health
All personnel who participate in practical activities specified in this standard must be physically and mentally capable of participating fully. All students will
be asked to complete a Qatar International Safety Centre standard medical questionnaire prior to course commencement.
