Highfield Food Safety (e-learning) Level 1
1. Target Group
This course is an ideal introduction to food safety, and a suitable learning resource for colleagues undergoing an induction in environments where food is
cooked, prepared or handled.
2. Delegate Pre-requisites
There are no prerequisites to study this course, though a basic understanding of principles of food safety will be beneficial.
3. Physical and Stressful Demands
There are no physical and stressful demands in this course.
4. Aims and Objectives
This course provides a qualification itself, the training meets all legal requirements and other full compliance for low-risk food handlers. This course provides
the knowledge and understanding required to go on to achieve any level 1 food safety (RQF) qualification, whether in catering, manufacturing or retail, with
an approved training provider. Ideal for employee inductions, existing staff at an introductory level, and low-risk food handlers. The course can be also be
used as part of the on-programme element of the new apprenticeship standards, and can support the knowledge, skills and behaviors apprentices need to
effectively integrate into the workplace.

After successful completion of this training, the learners will:

– Microbiological hazards
– Food poisoning and its control
– Contamination hazards and controls
– Safe handling and the storage of food
– Personal hygiene
– Food pests and pest control
– Cleaning and disinfection
6. Delegate Performance Assessment / Certification / Validity
Delegate Performance Assessment: The course is assessed by multiple-choice questions at the end of the course. Learners must score 100% in order
to pass. If the learner does not achieve 100% first time, they will be taken back to review the module with which they have struggled. They can then retry
the multiplechoice questions as many times as necessary to pass the course.
Certification: Highfield issued certification with no specific validity.
(Certification Issuance will take minimum of 30 working days after the successful completion of course.)
